Trigger Warning: Body Image and Anxiety

ICONIC Babe Lauren Nicole is a CEO, model and contributing curve editor at Cosmopolitan UK.

We talked to Lauren about life in lockdown, embracing new opportunities and being a champion of body confidence and inclusivity!

Lauren-Nicole

1. How have you found lockdown? What has been keeping you sane and motivated?

This lockdown has been really difficult for me, as it is for all of us! It has been difficult going from living a very busy life to being very still…also just having to witness so much hardship and difficulty that others close to me are experiencing.

2. How have you used lockdown to get creative?

I have been able to get really creative in lockdown! Especially in the first lockdown, in the spring, I was able to spend a lot of time outdoors being super creative. I shot a lot of content and created zines! I actually even enjoyed it!

3. Despite everything being weird, have you been able to find opportunities?

I feel so blessed to be able to say I have still had opportunities in this crazy time! One of them has been being appointed the contributing Curve Editor at Cosmo magazine! I still can’t believe it.

4. What does it mean to you to be Contributing Curve Editor at Cosmopolitan Magazine?

It means SO much. From a selfish perspective, it speaks to my younger self…it tells my younger self-you are valued, you are important and your voice is heard. From a wider perspective, I think representation is so important. It’s important for women who look like me to see themselves in the media they consume.

5. Why is representation so important?

Representation is really important for several reasons. To see yourself in the media really shows you that you aren’t alone. When I was younger, I so wish I could have turned on my T.V. and seen the likes of Lizzo and seen someone curvy and beautiful to make me feel beautiful too. It really is just so important!

6. What does self-love mean to you?

Self-love is accepting yourself for who you are and loving yourself unconditionally. Cause if you don’t - who will?!

7. How do you stay positive and practice self-love daily?

I really take time to be still and also journaling - I have found so much peace in doing that!

8. Which motivational quotes or mantras resonate with you?

You are worthy, you are loved, you deserve compassion.

Lauren-Nicole
