Meet Helen!
Helen Addis is best known for working 20 years in the TV industry as a features editor for ITV & Lorraine. She covers a range of subjects from beauty and fashion to the recent US elections. The mother of 3 created a breast cancer awareness campaign in collaboration with Lorraine Kelly called the change and check whilst fighting her own diagnosis.
The concept is a simple sticker fitted to shop / gym changing room mirrors inviting customers to check their own bodys! This initiative has been picked up by John Lewis, David Loyd and Monsoon to name a few! Since its launch, 48 women have directly linked the stickers to finding their diagnosis and ultimately saving their lives.
We invited Helen to try out her new concealer and have a chat with us about her story! This is how it went!
Please can you tell us abit about your Story!
So 5 years ago I was 39, I was diagnosed with an invasive breast cancer so I went through 18 months of quite hardcore treatment. I have a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherpary.
What if any positive have come out of your diagnosis?
I would say there are 3 things that I have taken from my experience. Number one is that is has taught me to spread awareness in knowing your body. Number two it has made me embrace my body more and number 3 is that it has made me put my health first, always.
How would you describe your makeup style?
I love natural makeup! Which is why I am so obsessed with the NEW Radiant Concealer & Brightening Duo.
What do you love about the NEW Radiant Concealer & Brightening Duo?
I love that it’s a 2 – in – 1 product and I haven’t seen anything like this before. I love that as soon as you apply it makes you instantly look as if you have had a full 8 hours sleep. (Instead of the much less I usually get!)
What do you love about the Conceal Campaign and why did you want to take part?
I love that the conceal get real campaign is all about not concealing your imperfections but embracing them! So, to be honest, the Radiant Concealer & Brightening Duo is my new best friend!
When I was going through chemotherapy, makeup was my secret weapon. Not nessacerily to hide from what I looked like but to make me feel a little bit better! It’s time to conceal and get real people! It’s time to put your best face forward! Take it from me, a little bit of the right beauty product, just makes you feel so much better!
